PACKAGING REQUIREMENTS FOR PURCHASED ITEMS |
- SCOPE:
- This instruction covers the packaging requirements for our vendors on manufactured parts.
- RESPONSIBILITY:
- It is the vendors’ responsibility to package the item being transported to ensure it will arrive at its destination without any damage.
- PROCEDURE:
- All manufactured parts must be packaged or boxed to prevent any damage caused by normal handling, shipping and/or any weather conditions.
- Manufactured item is considered damaged if any of the following conditions exist after arrival to its destination.
- Scratches to machined surfaces – regardless of depth or severity.
- Rust or corrosion of any degree.
- Distortion – Special consideration must be provided in packaging long, thin, fragile, and/or flimsy parts.
- Dents, dings, bumps, nicks and/or indentations – regardless of the cause or severity.
- Dirt, sand, salt, road grime, soot or any foreign material not part of the original packaging.
*All questions concerning the packaging requirements should be directed to the respective purchasing agent.
